Robotics Club

THE VEX IQ ROBOTICS TEAM

The VEX IQ Challenge is an excellent introduction to engineering and computer sciences for elementary and middle school students. Students compete yearly to solve an engineering challenge presented in the form of a game. Competing in the VEX IQ challenge allows our students to continue their passion for STEM outside of the classroom and have fun competing against students from other schools.

BIA has competed in the VEX IQ challenge for four years. We are a dedicated and passionate group of students, coaches, and parents that work to achieve great things as a team. Our team has been awarded the Excellence Award at the Hopkins Robotics Cup (Baltimore City Championship) four years in a row.

The VEX Robotics Design System offers students an exciting platform for learning about areas rich with career opportunities spanning science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). These are just a few of the many fields students can explore by creating with VEX Robotics technology. Beyond science and engineering principles, a VEX Robotics project encourages teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving among groups.

Students who have the opportunity to join the Robotics club learn more about designing, building and programming robots.

In addition, they will be given the opportunity to make it onto one of the BIA VEX IQ teams.

The program will accept students in grades 3-8 who meet the following criteria:

·       Ability to attend meetings on scheduled days

·       Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow instructions

·       Teachers recommendation

·       Parent Approval/Permission
